AFK

Apolgies for the lack of communication of late.

Currently I am writing about sound art for CM. This has led to some interesting discoveries such as the Sonic Arts Network - well worth searching out if you like things that go "SCREEEEE" and "pthok."

Also just finished a review of Derailroaded for Pixelsurgeon - if you've never heard of Larry "Wild Man" Fischer then I suggest you watch the movie or Google him. Your life probably isn't complete without the joys of "Merry Go Round" or "My Name is Larry." It's "outsider music" - if you know what that is, you'll like Larry. If you don't know what that is, and you like...unusual things...then you'll like Larry.

I also have a new computer from which to blog, so hopefully that will induce more regular posting on my part.

Nice free electronica E.P.

Just been informed that Covert has released his debut EP for free over here. The tracks are probably best categorised as naive, occasionally Plaid-like, minimal electronica of the type you might find on Leaf or in Wire magazine.

Some beautiful sounds and occasionally surprising melodies make this stuff stand out from other efforts in the same direction, and considering it's free you'd probably actually have to be extremely lazy not to download it, if it's your proverbial.

A big bag of things

It's the New Year and that means that it's time to organise stuff. Hence, there's a new MP3 from Determinance, which has been knocking around on the site for a while (keen-eyed directory-delvers may have spotted it previously.)

Apotheosis was the last track I recorded for the project, and it's a towering trance nonsense-scape with which I've recently been closing my live set. It's yours. Take take take.

I wandered over to Bit Shifter's site yesterday during the course of writing something for next month's Computer Music. If you're into your Game Boy-generated micromusic, then you can check out his well-produced, often highly melodic tunes.

And finally, if you like your music very hard, very fast and very nasty then you will like Hellfish's endlessly pounding repetoire. I have been listening to U Don't Quit over and over again today like a child gleefully hammering a rubber clown.
