Nervous Testpilot Track on Arkade's "Admit One: Vol. 2" Compilation

I've just been informed that ancient NTP track "Does She Know" will feature on a new compilation from the folks over at Arkade showcasing the best of their site.

This track has a long history - it was on my first demos, the "MODULE..." CD I self-released in 2000-ish, the Data Capture mini-album one year later. There was a live version on the limited-edition "Disposable Hardcore" album I self-released as well. There you go, trivia fans.

A few people have asked me if I'm going to do more electronica in that style. I would definitely like to, but there are always time constraints, and sadly I don't have a record label who would be likely to take anything like that right now.

I don't think I'd self-release (phnarr) again because I don't have time to do my own marketing. Ho-hum.

Trees Lounge

I just saw Buschemi's Trees Lounge from '96 on TV - the paucity of even half-way intelligent reviews of this movie on the internet is frankly terrifying. It's a phenomenal piece of work and well worth watching: seen in some lights, and particularly if viewed as a "small" movie, it could achieve five stars. I'd avoided watching it previously, as I thought it was probably too self-conscious and pared-down: it's both of those things, but it's all the better for them.

The movie does a few things which offend a lot of people: deliberately boring the audience; failing to offer a redemptive or fulfilling conclusion; using repetitious, mannered dialogue; being episodic. If you don't think that's going to upset you, then you'll enjoy it.
